Cabbagetown

Cabbagetown is located on the east side of Yonge Street, and has been described as “the largest continuous area of preserved Victorian housing in all of North America”. Cabbagetown is bounded by The Don Valley, Parliament Street, Wellesley Street and Dundas Street. The name Cabbagetown derives from Immigrants who moved into the neighbourhood in the late 1840s and were so poor that they grew cabbage in their front yards.

Currently, the neighbourhood is home to an eclectic mix of journalists, artists, writers and musicians as well as professors, doctors, social workers and many who are affiliated with the University of Toronto residing there.
